Ignition Interlock

An ignition interlock device or breath alcohol ignition interlock device (IID and BAIID) is a mechanism like a breathalyzer, installed on a motor vehicle’s dashboard. Before the vehicle’s motor can be started, the driver first must exhale into the device.  If the breath-alcohol concentration in the person’s breath is greater than the allowed state guideline limit, the device prevents the engine from being started.

Special Supervision

The state of Florida allows individuals with 5 year, 10 year or permanent license revocations to apply for a hardship license.  To obtain the license, an applicant must apply with a Florida DUI Program after waiting at least twelve (12) months (and sometimes longer) after the revocation was imposed.

Registration in a program does not guarantee the issuance of the restricted driver license but it’s a great first step for anyone hoping to get back on the road.
